Way back in 2009, we talked about a little program for free that can bring a little 'of Windows XP Explorer in Windows 7. It was Classic Shell which has now updated to adapt to Windows 8 and has added to his duties a number of interesting news indeed.
The Start menu - as you can see from the screenshot above, one of the main features of the new Classic Shell is the ability to install the Start menu in Windows 8. It will not be as functional as the real Start menu in Windows 7 and Vista but is a boon for those not yet accustomed to the Start Screen and Metro environment. It has different skin and is highly customizable (you can deploy one or two columns, you can choose what to display, etc. .. The search bar is not fake, it really works, and also the Win key on the keyboard is associated with menu.
Classic Desktop - that fortunately there is still in Windows 8 and do not need external programs to simulate it but Classic Shell allows you to do something really very comfortable, boot into Desktop mode bypassing the Start screen without resorting to tricks manuals with task scheduler, like the one we showed you some time ago. Just access your software settings and make sure that there is a check on Skip Metro Screen.
Do not miss the extra buttons for the Explorer, as there were also on Windows 7, and other useful functions for those nostalgic for the geeks who do not particularly like the Start screen but do not want to miss the opportunity to test the behavior of Microsoft's new OS.
